Family Dental Center gets in the act of ‘going green’

Dr. Charles Lambert, who started Interlakes Family Dental in Center Harbor, which is in the process of going green, has more than 20 years of service and extensive volunteerism to the community.

The office is now “going green” by reducing the amount of paperwork and chemicals and instead using technology.

A switch is being made from standard x-rays to digital x-rays. Lambert said he was reluctant to make the investment at first but “now i believe the technology has been proven.”

The switch to digital means eliminating chemicals that require hazardous waste disposal. Lambert and MacDonald said digital x-rays also mean 50 percent less radiation exposure for the patient

“We’re attempting to go paperless with basically a digital office which will be a very intense transition for an old doc who can barely type,” he said.

The office is working toward making appointments, notes, billing, charting and other administrative items done on the computer and through email.

“It’s just good to eliminate the need for paper,” MacDonald said.

The practice Moultonborough means a variety of patients of all ages and backgrounds

“We have a wide variety of patients and there are multiple needs,” he said. “We do all phases of dentistry. We have patients starting with Medicaid children, the biggest problem is probably decay, to more wealthy patients who demand a very high quality of dentistry; more basic needs versus elective. One of the great things for me as a dentist there is such a wide variety.”

Patient education and preventive dentistry, such as on basic hygiene, is also a major priority and the practice also offers more elective services such as veneers and lumineers.
