Dozens of local residents would most likely be in pain if it weren’t for a group of local dentists who volunteered to clean teeth, fill cavities and perform extractions this week for free.

Dozens of drills started to hum and patients filled every chair at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College’s dental clinic on Friday morning as the two-day Gift of Smiles clinic got underway.
