Bonham Dental Arts in staying on the cutting edge of the latest technological advances in the practice of dentistry, have created new ways to make their patient have an exceptional experience. Thanks to a new product called Lava ™ Chairside Oral Scanner C.O.S. from 3M ESPE, Bonham Dental can now offer a procedure that captures impressions digitally, without any of the messy and unpleasant materials or waiting time.
“Patient complaints about the impression process are common,” states Dr. Christopher Bonham. “Now we can give them a comfortable experience using a small wand tip to glide over the patient’s teeth to capture multiple video images. The system displays them on a touch screen monitor and can be reviewed with our patients while they are still sitting in the chair. This promotes better communication between the two of us and comes at no extra cost to the patient.”
After years of taking traditional impressions involving plastic trays and messy impression material for patients who need a crown or bridge, Bonham Dental Arts is one of the first in the southern United States to incorporate the Lava ™ Chairside Oral Scanner into the everyday practice. This proprietary technology has not yet been used in any other industry, making the dental industry the first to benefit from this amazing breakthrough in digital imaging. Once Dr. Bonham has reviewed the digital impression, the file is sent to the dental lab to produce the final restoration.
The Lava ™ Chairside Oral Scanner uses an entirely new method of capturing data called 3-D Motion technology. 3M ESPE, the dental division of parent company 3M, is engaged in a strategic roll-out of the device in select regions throughout the United States.
